This bib, embroidered with beads, is called a 'Bostdauk', later 'Bostbrett', on the Mönchgut peninsula. The low German name 'Bostdauk' indicates that it was originally a simple cloth wrapped around the neck.

It developed into an elaborately manufactured bib from 1800 on. In the costumes worn by the women in Mönchgut, the 'Bostdauk' is actually an ornamental item worn prominently beneath the gap in the corset.

It is manufactured by stitching fabric adorned with colourful strips, silk ribbons and metal platelets on top of a trapezoid piece of cardboard. Beadwork becomes popular during the Biedermeier period. The leaves and vines are rendered as authentically as possible using templates in a contemporary style. Rose motifs are especially widespread. A broad decorative ribbon made of silk is placed beneath the beadwork.
